February News from Primary 6

Hello everyone from Primary 6! As always, the boys and girls in Primary 6 have been very busy in the last few weeks.

At the start of February we began our new topic, Old Aberdeen. We were very lucky to have Mr Patterson take us on a trip around Old Aberdeen and learn about the history of some Old Aberdeen’s most remarkable buildings like St Machar Cathedral, King’s College and the Town House. Despite the snow, we really enjoyed exploring our local environment and learned lots of interesting facts! After learning about Bishop Elphinstone and his beautiful coat of arms, we decided to create our own individual coatsĀ of arms while learning about the symbolism behind them. We also completed some art work inspired by the beautiful sites of Old Aberdeen. We are really enjoying this topic!

We are very lucky to be learning Mandarin this term and have been enjoying the Chinese New Year celebrations, learning all about the culture and traditions and designing our own Chinese lanterns.

Since the beginning of the term, we have been learning about persuasive writing. Last week we designed advertisements for our own football teams, incorporating our persuasive writing techniques.

This term we are very excited to be performing the Passion Play in front of the whole school! We have all been assigned our parts and are working very hard with Mr Horabin to learn our parts and put on a great performance!

Best of luck to our Euroquiz team who are taking part in the Aberdeen Euroquiz heats this Friday. They have been working extremely hard and we are all very proud of them. We wish them the very best of luck!
