P2 red – Term 1 news

What a busy term we have had at St Peter’s School.  The boys and girls in Primary 2 red have been working hard and learning lots.

Most recently, we had a fantastic visit to Macduff Marine Aquarium where the children were able to see and handle many creatures from under the sea.  The boys and girls had a super day and I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the parent helpers who accompanied us on the trip.

In literacy, we have started learning our Primary 2 phonemes. So far we have learned ay, ea and ow (as in snow). It would be beneficial for the children to practise these phonemes using the Education City activities. The children have also been receiving their common words each week. It has been lovely to hear how keen they are to practise them. Keep up the hard work at home!

We have been reading both fiction and non-fiction books, and the children have been enjoying the opportunity to speak about the books they have read.

In maths we have been working on a mixture of addition, subtraction and the two times table.  The boys and girls have been working really hard during maths lessons, and it has been lovely to see the progress they have made so far this term.

Football coaching from Aberdeen Football Club has finished. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning some football skills!  Thanks a lot to Rob for his lessons every Tuesday.

The children have also been working very hard with Mrs Armstrong on a Wednesday. They have been working on ball skills.

The children are having a fantastic time with our “Under the Sea” topic. They are enjoying learning about different ‘under the sea’ creatures from seahorses to sharks.  They have also been learning about rockpools and islands.
