Mon 16th Nov – Fri 20th Nov What’s happening in school this week?

Our student teachers continue working in classes and will take more responsibility this week – Mr Melville in P6, Miss Ross in P5 and Miss Perviz in P7.


Monday 16th November is an In-Service Training Day for teachers and children do not attend school.


Tues 17th November

  • P5, P5 from P4/5 and P7 will all go to the Beach Ballroom for the Scottish Children’s Book Award special event. Please return your permission form. There is no charge for the event.
  • P4 and P4 from P4/5 will go to see “The Sound of Music” as part of the “Into Film” Festival. Please return your permission form. There is no charge for the event.They will use this rich shared experience as a context for talking, listening and writing lessons.
  • Music lessons with Mrs Herbert for every class. We are preparing for our Christmas concerts on Wed 16th and Thurs 17th December.
  • Calligraphy lessons for P3, P5, P6 and P7
  • Science Club starts today for P6 and P7. Please complete the registration form – science club 2015 – and remember to collect your child by 4.15pm. Many thanks to Mrs Jadid for running this very popular After-School event each week.
  • Please note that Mr Sutherland will not be in school for brass lessons today as he will be teaching in the schools where he usually works on Mondays.

Wed 18th November

  • PE lessons with Mrs Armstrong – all P3, P5, P6  and P7
  • All P3 pupils will go to the cinema to see “Shaun the Sheep” as part of the “Into Film” Festival. Please return your permission form. There is no charge for the event.They will use this rich shared experience as a context for talking, listening and writing lessons.
  • All P1 children need to wear warm clothes for their trip to the Cruickshank Gardens as part of their Forest project. They will have packed lunches in school before their visit. Parent helpers are very welcome to join the trip. Please speak to Miss Munro or Mr O’Neill or leave your name at the office. Many thanks.

Thurs 19th November

  • Final swimming lesson at Northfield for P4. Bus leaves at 9am.
  • Drama lessons for all P2, all P3 and P7
  • Parent Council meeting at 3.30pm. All welcome. We will be planning our Christmas Fayre.
  • P6 and P7 pupils and their parents are invited to St Machar Academy at 7pm for a tour of the building led by senior pupils.

Friday 20th November

  • Fr Gabor is visiting P3 pupils.
  • Assembly for P4 – P7. We will be hearing about a ‘Pop Along’ music session at Aberdeen University to be held on Saturday 12th December.
  • P5 pupils are taking half of our Harvest Service gifts to the Seaton Food Bank. The other half of the contributions were taken to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
  • P1 parents are invited into school at 2.15pm to receive the Book Bug packs from the Scottish Book Trust. We hope you will enjoy all the lovely books and activities.
  • Student teachers finish this block of continuous teaching practice in P5, P6 and P7 today. We thank them for their hard work and look forward to seeing them after the Christmas holiday.

Thanks very much for your generous donations to the  Rotary Club Shoebox Appeal. We managed to fill 16 boxes for them. We also raised £220 for Children in Need on Friday! We have some very talented performers in P4 – P7. Our younger pupils all enjoyed their Treasure Trail, hunting Pudsey Bear, in the morning. Many thanks to our House Captains and Mrs Bain for organising these great events which helped our pupils to develop their capacities as effective contributors and confident individuals.
