Wednesday 10th February

  • Ash Wednesday. It is the beginning of Lent.  We teach all the children about the ways in which Catholics mark this special season. Our class altars have purple cloths and we decorate them with the works of mercy that we will try to undertake during Lent.                                                                         1. When we fast, we “give up” something – for example a favourite food, a video game, or a                     special treat we enjoy.                                                                                                                 2. Almsgiving is sharing what we have – our time or our gifts – with others. Every class has a                 WEE BOX and we encourage the children to bring donations for the charitable work of SCIAF.         3. Prayer is our way of spending time with God, setting time aside to talk and listen to him.
