P5/6 News!

Primary 5/6 continue to be very busy this term. We have been lucky to have had our student teacher, Miss McNicoll , join us for four weeks. We look forward to welcoming her back in January.

Topic: Our topic continues to be ‘Light and Sound’, focusing more on Sound this term.We will continue until the end of November, before we dedicate more of our time towards Christmas activities, such as preparing for the school pantomime ‘Aladdin Trouble.’

Co-Operative Learning: We have been learning to work co-operatively in groups of 4. We have established team names and are beginning to work well together, taking responsibility for our own learning.

Literacy: Spelling, phonics, reading and writing lessons continue on a regular basis. We have been enjoying our class novel ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ and recently made turkish delight with Miss McNicoll in order to write an instructional recipe.

Maths: This term we have been looking at equivalent fractions, decimals and time (analogue and digital). With the lead up to Christmas our maths focus will be money, looking at money management, comparing costs and using the terms profit and loss in buying and selling activities.

UK Parliament Week: This week is UK Parliament Week and we were delighted to welcome Kirsty Blackman MP for a Question and Answer session. We were very interested to hear about Prime Minister’s Questions!
