P1 Blue 2016/2017

Primary 1 blue’s news!

It seems like the new Primary one blue pupils have been here far longer than 4 weeks, everyone has settled well into our classroom routines and the pupils have been playing and working together very well.

We have had great time learning our sounds through learning our Jolly Phonics rhymes and watching Geraldine the Giraffe find things beginning with the sound of the day. So far we have been learning the a, t, s, i, p and n sounds, the children have enjoyed learning about how to write the letters using a variety of materials. We have also begun to learn how to spell some words.

In our maths lessons we have been exploring numbers 1-10, we have been counting and writing the numbers in a variety of ways. In our mental maths lessons we have been looking at numbers before and after.

We enjoyed our first week of full days. On Monday we had a visit from “Booster Cushion Theatre”, everyone enjoyed listening to the story!

On Wednesday we had a visit from the Osigili Maasai warriors! They had amazing costumes and were great at singing and dancing. Mrs Craig even got her photo taken with some of them!

We have started our first project, “all about me”, along with talking about our families we have been learning about each other’s favourite things.

We have been having lots of fun in our drama lessons with Mr Horabin, we have been looking at traditional tales and did very well acting out both Goldilocks and the three bears and Little Red Riding Hood.

We are looking forward to the next few weeks and can’t wait to find out what we are going to be learning about!
