P4/5 News April 2017

Dear Parents,

We had an incredibly busy and productive term 3 and have so much news to share. We loved our topic on castles and have learnt so much about the life, structure and history of castles in Scotland. Thanks again for all the wonderful homework.

Learning how to chop vegetables safely

We learnt all about the foods that were enjoyed by people who lived in castles and decided to prepare a banquet feast. We made lots of different pastries ourselves. We made little puff pastry tomato tarts and pear tart.

Using cookie cutters to make little puff pastry parcels

We didn’t quite manage a big roast meal but we did what we could!

Crathes Castle trip

A happy bunch after our castle tour!

We had a lovely trip to Crathes Castle whereby we were guided around and learnt some fascinating facts about life at the time in this castle.

We then checked out some of Crathes’ trails and carried out a scavenger hunt and a nature trail quiz.

Counting the rings to determine how old the tree was when it fell down.

Arts Across Learning
We have loved learning all about how music can be applied to different scenes and environments. During our ‘Arts across Learning’ project, we were split into groups in which we planned out different scenes that we would work to create through sound. We came up with some marvellous ideas and worked really well together.

The icing on the cake was when we performed to our parents who gave us some wonderful feedback.
