Next week we are going to start learning about Fractions. We will start learning about fractions of shapes before progressing to fractions of numbers.

In phonics we have been learning about the “y” letter making the “i” sound. We came up with lots of interesting words that contain the sound.

We have been enjoying the “Funny Bones” stories and have been busy writing our own “Funny Bones” story which we will be making into books to share with the younger children.

Our new project for this term is “Our amazing body“. This week we have been learning about the structure and function of the skeleton. We had a great time in our groups sorting bones out to make life-size skeletons.

This term we will be learning about our muscles, heart and lungs. We will also be learning about how to keep our bodies healthy through the food that we eat. We will be learning about how to keep our bodies safe in a variety of situations. We will also learn about how to keep our minds healthy.

In the children’s homework jotters this week they received the log in details for access to a wide range of ebooks on the Oxford Owl website. The children enjoyed looking through the books in class and especially liked the “audio” feature which read the book to them. This is a fantastic resource which you can use to support your child’s reading at home.
