P3 blue’s visit to the May Festival

On Wednesday 24th May, Primary 3 blue visited the May Festival at the University of Aberdeen. Since we have been learning about “Our amazing body” in class, we went to a workshop called “What’s in your gut?” We learned about some of the different types of bacteria in our body and that there can be good bacteria and bad bacteria. We found out that the bacteria in our gut break down the fibre that we eat. We also learned that more than 50% of our poo is bacteria from our gut!

We had to design our own bacteria, decide whether it was good or bad and what effect it had on our bodies. We then created our own model bacteria, using plasticine, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and wool. We had lots of fun!
