Primary 6 \u2013Term 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

The children this term have started their new novel, ‘Wonder’<\/strong>. It tells the incredibly inspiring and heart-warming story of August Pullman who has to face a lot of challenges in his life.\u00a0 Kindness\u00a0is<\/b>\u00a0the main\u00a0theme<\/b> in ‘Wonder’<\/b>. It helps us realize that a small, simple act of kindness\u00a0can<\/b> make a big difference, and we have the ability to CHOOSE KIND.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the next 5 weeks we will explore our understanding of “Time”\u00a0 \u00a0We will look at 12 and 24 hour conversion, time intervals, calendars and how to use timetables (for example buses, trains etc)<\/p>\n

This Is Our Faith<\/b><\/p>\n

The class have been revisiting the Seven Sacraments, learning about the signs and symbols. \"\"<\/a>They have developed a deeper understanding of them and have reflected on how they strengthen our relationships with God and others.<\/p>\n

Topic<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scots Dialect\u00a0 <\/strong>The children explored Doric and the Scots language in books, poems, and movies. We created a Word Wall for the new vocabulary we learned and then created mindmaps of all the things we believed were traditionally Scottish.\u00a0 We created poems in Scots to perform at our our Celebrating Scotland<\/em> Assembly. Thank you to all who came to show their support and the children should be very proud of what they\u2019ve accomplished. Ask your child; \u2018Fit like?\u2019\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

World War Two<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our focus has now shifted to Our Historical World. We will be looking at the life of children in Scotland during the second World War.\u00a0 We will create a Timeline of Scottish History and learn about what happened before and after the war.\u00a0 We will explore how day to day living in Aberdeen changed during this time – school, rations, evacuees, blackouts etc.\u00a0 We will be visiting the Gordon Highlanders Museum as part of the Arts Across Learning programme.\u00a0 Miss MacDonald has already visited our class with her grandmother’s cape.\u00a0 Her grandmother was a nurse during World War Two and Miss MacDonald told us about her Granny, her life, her work and about the badges covering the cape.<\/p>\n
