Next we had our Active Adventure Friday which was a farmyard themed one. We had a great visit from the countryside classroom and learned lots about crops and all the things that are made on a farm such as milk, cheese and ice-cream! We all got a turn to pet the lambs and hold them. They were so soft and cute! We also made a scarecrow in the garden to look after our seeds that we had planted and keep the birds away. This was so much fun and a bit messy too! <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our context for learning for the first half of this term has been Our Frozen World. We have enjoyed learning about lots of different aspects of life in polar lands. We learned about some of the animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctica. We learned about the Inuit people and how they live, what they eat and the types of clothes they wear to keep warm. We even got to dress up in some Inuit clothes. Ask your child or someone from P1R to tell you some penguin facts! <\/p>\n\n\n\n In Numeracy this term we have been working on data handling and making our own graphs and also learned abot fractions. Here are some photos of some of our Numeracy learning. We have been learning to use ordinal numbers and used cars to race and see which car came 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We also lined up and called out the order we were standign in and played ordinal number splat which was very competitive! We have been learning to give drections and made maps to guide our Bee Bots along. We linked this with our frozen world context for learning and made Inukshuks like the ones that are used in the Arctic to give directions to good fishing spots, to the next village and also to warn of dangerous places on the ice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We would like to thank Primary 7 for organisig a great celebration for the Queen’s Jubliee party. We made some flag and corgi pictures and enjoyed joining in our first whole school street party outside in the sun. We also enjoyed the traditional games that the P7’s came to play with us during the day.
