Our taught writing will be linked to our two contexts for learning this term. In our imaginative writing we will be developing a character, focussing on their appearance, actions, attitude and speech. We will use Scottish stories\/themed books to inspire this. We will then move on to personal writing, where we will be learning to create a diary entry relating to experiences we are involved in at school. Finally, we will create functional pieces, including science and weather reports; when we explore the changing state of water and the weather in the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Numeracy <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing with a Maths Mastery based approach to learning in numeracy, we will build on&nbsp; concrete and pictorial understanding before moving on to more abstract applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will be exploring rounding and estimating. Learners will be using various strategies to do this such as number lines, number squares, playing cards and cubes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will then move on to subtraction and use different strategies and materials to support us with this. These will include; numicon, base 10s, number lines and the column method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also cover money, exploring coins and notes, solving money-based problems, making amounts and giving change.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we will have a stand-alone topic of Data Handling throughout this term, where we will use tables, pictographs, bar graphs and tally marks to read and collect data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This term we will be covering the Included, Respected and Responsible wellbeing indicators. We will be learning more about what it means to feel included in social settings like meals, how to respect ourselves and others and discuss our responsibilities at school and in the wider community. We will also continue to have our Roots of Empathy classes, focusing on understanding our own and others feelings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class has loved this experience so far. Here are some views from the class:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dahunsi <\/strong>&#8211; \u201cWe like that Baby Juliet gets to see us and we get to see her\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beomhinya<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cI like that we get to sing her songs\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kamsi <\/strong>&#8211; \u201cWe get to see her emotions\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eric<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cI like to ask our tiny teacher\u2019s Mum questions about her and I like to see her\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Emmanuella<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cI like all the drawings we make\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">P.E days will continue to be on Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A reminder that homework is shared on Google Classroom, Oxford Owl and Education City.
