I\u00a0hope you find these useful.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mrs. Cuthill<\/em><\/p>\n<p>LITERACY &#8211; READING<\/p>\n<p>Reading homework will be set during the week. I\u00a0will aim to hear each group on average four times over the course of two weeks.<\/p>\n<p><em>You can help by,<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Encouraging\u00a0 fluency and expression when reading aloud.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discussing reading tasks and give help where necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Making sure your child has their reading book and homework diary with them every day.<\/li>\n<li>Signing homework diaries to confirm reading homework has been completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LITERACY &#8211; WRITING<\/p>\n<p>We will be revising VCOP in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>VCOP stands for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>V &#8211; ambitious vocabulary or &#8220;wow&#8221; words.\u00a0For example, epic, awesome.<\/li>\n<li>C &#8211; Connectives. For example, and, then, but.<\/li>\n<li>O &#8211; Openers. For example, silently, slowly.<\/li>\n<li>P &#8211; Punctuation. For example, speech marks, commas, exclamation marks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>You can help by,<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging your child to look for VCOP in all reading materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will continue to develop different styles of writing. Our project this term is The Vikings. We will be writing a news report of the Viking raids on Lindisfarne, describing a viking and producing a Viking recipe and menu.<\/p>\n<p><em>You can help by,<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Discussing different language used in real life situations. For example, news paper reports, recipes, menus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LITERACY &#8211; TRICKY WORDS<\/p>\n<p>Tricky word lists will be issued every week on Monday to be learned at home. The children will be tested on\u00a0the spelling of these words on\u00a0Friday mornings.<\/p>\n<p>NUMERACY<\/p>\n<p>We will be revising ordinal number to 1,000 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>We will be revising digital and analogue clock times for hour and half hour times then continuing with quarter past and quarter to the hour.<\/p>\n<p>We will be revising the two, three, four, five and ten times tables.<\/p>\n<p><em>You can help by,<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging your child to count on and back. Please note, cardboard tubes from the inside of toilet rolls are not suitable for hygiene reasons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>HOMEWORK<\/p>\n<p>Reading &#8211; set during the week. Please check homework diaries for due dates.<\/p>\n<p>Tricky Word Lists &#8211; issued on Monday, tested on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Viking homework &#8211; details in homework diaries.<\/p>\n<p>Maths and Literacy homework will be set on Education City.
