Hello from P1 Red!<\/p>\n

I hope you all had a wonderful February Holiday.<\/p>\n

All the boys and girls in P1 Red have been busy bees as usual and have enjoyed learning lots of new and fun things at St.Peter’s School.<\/p>\n

During Catholic Education Week, the children enjoyed celebrating the theme of the week which was “Proclaiming the Joy of the Gospel”. We spoke about how we can be happy and joyful in our lives and lots of ways we can make others happy at home and at school by being kind and caring. The children learned about Pope Francis, Mother Teresa and also ways in which we can follow in Jesus` footsteps.<\/p>\n

The children have been developing their writing skills. We are working hard on holding our pencils properly. We use the rhyme “Peter Pointer, Tom Thumb, put your other fingers together and tuck them in” to remember how to hold a pencil correctly. The children can show you how to hold a pencil correctly at home too!<\/p>\n

The children made beautiful Valentines cards for their families and wrote lovely messages on the cards.<\/p>\n

We also planted daffodils in our class!<\/p>\n

The children have just finished learning about subtraction to 10. They can now \u00a0subtract confidently from 10. The children had fun playing subtraction games on the computer.<\/p>\n

Our topic at the moment is The Farm. We are learning about the jobs the farmer does and what animals you can find on the farm. This week we will be learning about the useful things we get from the farm. We had fun making some of the animals on the farm and learning how hard the farmer works.<\/p>\n

For the next couple of weeks we are starting a block of learning about telling the time in whole hours on analogue clocks<\/a>. We will also be learning about time in daily events such as morning,afternoon,evening and night. We will also be covering the calendar, days of the week and seasons.<\/p>\n

In phonics, we will continue to learn new digraphs – ch<\/strong><\/a> and ng<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0You can also hear the ch song<\/a> at 1:37 on this video.<\/p>\n

Our spelling words will be much, of, or, with, us<\/strong>\u00a0and so<\/strong> for the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

Thursday 5th\u00a0<\/sup>March 2015 4pm – 5pm Aberdeen Central Children’s Library \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>To celebrate World Book Day, Natalie Russell, author of \u201cLost for Words\u201d, one of the books given to your child in the Bookbug pack, will lead a creative workshop for children aged 3-7 and their parents\/carers<\/span>. The event is free but places are limited so booking is essential.
