{"id":2051,"date":"2015-03-03T09:52:02","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T09:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2015-03-19T12:55:29","modified_gmt":"2015-03-19T12:55:29","slug":"primary-1-blues-news-for-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=2051","title":{"rendered":"Primary 1 Blue&#8217;s news for March."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primary one blue are continuing to work hard and learn lots!<\/p>\n<p>In Phonics this week the children will be learning the sound <strong>ng <\/strong>as in<strong> sing, strong and rang. <\/strong>The following three weeks will be consolidation weeks where the children will be revising the sounds<strong> sh, th, ch <\/strong>and<strong> ng <\/strong>along with the initial sounds which were introduced\u00a0before Christmas. There are Education City games for each of these sounds. They have\u00a0been very enthusiastic in their learning during this topic. This week we will be consolidating and assessing their knowledge of this topic and learning about the order of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abcya.com\/days_of_the_week.htm\">days of the week <\/a>and the <a href=\"http:\/\/learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org\/en\/category\/topics\/seasons\">seasons of the year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1653-1024x7681_f_improf_385x298.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"385\" height=\"298\" data-mce-width=\"80.39999997615814\" data-mce-height=\"60.39999997615814\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next week the children will be starting a block on numbers to 20. They already know 1 &#8211; 10 very well and now the children will be learning to count from 11 to 20. They will learn to\u00a0recognise and write the numbers. They will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sheppardsoftware.com\/mathgames\/earlymath\/BalloonCount20.htm\">sequence numbers to 20<\/a> and will begin addition and subtraction within 20.<\/p>\n<p>Our topic continues to be t<strong>he farm<\/strong>. The children will further their learning about animals on the farm (specifically pigs and sheep). They will also learn about the crops that grow on farms, what they need in order to grow and how the crops are used to feed us. On <strong>Thursday 19th March<\/strong> we are going to be making vegetable soup in class. I would appreciate it if you could send your child to school with one vegetable on that day.
