{"id":2108,"date":"2015-03-06T15:11:47","date_gmt":"2015-03-06T15:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=2108"},"modified":"2015-03-06T15:11:47","modified_gmt":"2015-03-06T15:11:47","slug":"world-book-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=2108","title":{"rendered":"World Book Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All our children enjoyed a very special assembly for World Book Day. \u00a0Lots of children and staff had dressed up as their favourite book characters. \u00a0Primary Seven pupils hosted the event and encouraged all to keep reading.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P1 Blue children <\/strong>have enjoyed all the stories in their BookBug packs. They voted for their \u00a0favourite and chose <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishbooktrust.com\/books\/robot-rumpus\">&#8220;Robot Rumpus&#8221; by Ross Collins.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0They made a special poster with a bar graph and description of the story. We all loved Miss MacDonald&#8217;s hat for her Cat!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/_d_improd_\/RIMG0779_f_improf_376x378.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"378\" data-mce-width=\"40\" data-mce-height=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>P1 Red<\/strong> love <a href=\"http:\/\/www.storylineonline.net\/the-rainbow-fish\/\">Marcus Pfister&#8217;s story of &#8220;The Rainbow Fish&#8221;<\/a>. They all contributed special scales to their own fantastic fish and they also shared a special rhyme with us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/_d_improd_\/RIMG07831_f_improf_395x325.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"395\" height=\"325\" data-mce-width=\"80\" data-mce-height=\"60\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The boys and girls in <strong>P2<\/strong> made their own scrapbook with pictures and stories of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mrmen.com\/\">Mr Men and Little Miss<\/a>\u00a0characters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>P3<\/strong> children wore their writing and pictures about their favourite books!\u00a0Children in <strong>P3\/4<\/strong> designed Book Covers and <strong>P4<\/strong> shared the beautiful bookmarks they had made. We hope they will enjoy using them to mark the page on the many books they will be reading in the next few months!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/_d_improd_\/RIMG0772_f_improf_292x291.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"291\" data-mce-width=\"40\" data-mce-height=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>P5<\/strong> pupils love reading and they shared some of their <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.booktrust.org.uk\/programmes\/primary\/childrens-book-week\/100-best-books\/\">Book Reviews\u00a0<\/a>with us. Many of the titles they chose were inspired by their\u00a0World War 2 project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/_d_improd_\/RIMG0798_f_improf_279x279.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"279\" height=\"279\" data-mce-width=\"40\" data-mce-height=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>P6<\/strong>\u00a0pupils made covers of their favourite books, illustrating them and writing the &#8216;blurb&#8217; on the dust jacket which encourages readers to choose the book.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, <strong>P7<\/strong>\u00a0told us about their class novel <a href=\"http:\/\/rjpalacio.com\/index.html\">&#8216;Wonder&#8217; by R.J.
