Welcome back to school, I hope that you all had an enjoyable and relaxing summer holiday It has been wonderful getting to know your children and seeing their enthusiasm for starting their Primary five year in St Peter’s.<\/p>\n
\nThe children decided to create their own class promise. This is a set of statements that they promise to try their best to keep over this next year.<\/p>\n
As a Primary 5 class, we promise to;<\/p>\n
1. Work brilliantly together with our classmates
\n2. Be helpful to other children and always be a good friend.
\n3. Speak English to one another while in the classroom.
\n4. Follow instructions given to us by any adult in school
\n5. Try our best at all times to respect our school and our community
\n6. Be honest and truthful
\n7. Be the best that we can be!<\/p>\n
The children have made wonderful artwork to decorate our classroom which demonstrate these promises. They have also signed the promises as their way of committing to keep them throughout this year.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday<\/strong> next week we are looking forward to starting a\u00a0four week block<\/strong> of swimming lessons at the Sports Village. I would greatly appreciate any offers of help to walk the children to and from their lessons.<\/p>\n Our first project in Primary five will be China. <\/strong>The children are looking forward to learning about the culture and history of China and are very enthusiastic about learning to read and write in Mandarin.<\/p>\n In maths<\/strong> next week we are going to be learning about place value<\/strong>. The children will learn to read, order and write numbers which have up to 6 digits of place value.<\/p>\n For spelling<\/strong> the children will be focusing on the phoneme “oi<\/strong>” for the next two weeks.<\/p>\n The children will be learning to uplevel the vocabulary that they use in their writing. We will be looking at words such as “nice”, “went” and “big”.
