{"id":3720,"date":"2015-11-12T21:35:15","date_gmt":"2015-11-12T21:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=3720"},"modified":"2015-11-12T21:35:15","modified_gmt":"2015-11-12T21:35:15","slug":"welcome-back-to-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=3720","title":{"rendered":"Welcome back to school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello and welcome to back to St Peter&#8217;s, I hope you all had a lovely October break and it has been wonderful to have the boys and girls back to school.<\/p>\n<p>Literacy<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">We have been learning new phonemes since coming back to school. \u00a0So far we have covered the phonemes ue (as in blue) and aw (as in paw). \u00a0I will put homework on Education City each week which will contain activities to help the children practise these phonemes. \u00a0It will help them with the trickier ones. \u00a0The children are continuing to read a mixture of fiction and non-fiction texts, and are encouraged to speak about the stories they are reading. \u00a0It has been lovely to see the children become more fluent in their reading. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maths<br \/>\nIn maths we are looking at\u00a0capacity. We will also learn more about\u00a0measure and weight this term. \u00a0The children are working on 2D shapes on a Wednesday with Mrs Duncan. \u00a0The children will be doing mental maths every week, we will be working on the two times table (there is a lovely song on Education City to practise with that we use in class) and we will be working on number stories (of numbers up to 15). \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1048_f_improf_236x180.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"180\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1046_f_improf_244x191.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"191\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1055_f_improf_264x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"202\" \/><br \/>\nUnder the Sea Topic<br \/>\nThis term we are going to be finishing off our Under the Sea topic. \u00a0The children have had opportunities to experience hands on science lessons within this topic and we will continue with this until we finish (around the end of November). \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1063_f_improf_165x206.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"165\" height=\"206\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_1069_f_improf_233x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"233\" height=\"178\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/_d_improd_\/IMG_10571_f_improf_241x195.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"241\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>P.E.<br \/>\nThe children have just finished working on ball skills this week, and are very excited to move on to gymnastics beginning next Monday. \u00a0Just a gentle reminder that our gym day has moved to a Monday.
