We also did a roaring trade on &#8216;Reindeer Dust&#8217;. There were many\u00a0fun and exciting items and activities for sale at all the stalls. All the children\u00a0throughout the school demonstrated their creativity and entrepreneurship brilliantly.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_27811_f_improf_379x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"175\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>We are off to see &#8216;Jack and the Beanstalk&#8217; at the Arts Centre on Tuesday<\/strong>. It promises to\u00a0be a brilliant\u00a0show.\u00a0Parents who can come to help are asked to contact the school office please \u2013 <strong>01224 485611<\/strong> or <strong>stpeters@aberdeencity.gov.uk<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have been continuing to learn our sounds and sight words. We are learning about making words with our magnetic letters\u00a0and to;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Say<\/strong> the word. <strong>Make and break<\/strong> the word into the different letter sounds. <strong>Blend<\/strong> the sounds back together. <strong>Read<\/strong> the word. <strong>Write<\/strong> the word.<\/p>\n<p>We have just received an amazing new set of Big Cat reading books that the children will begin reading this week. These books are extremely well produced and include suggested\u00a0reading strategies and activities inside the back cover. We hope all the children and their families\u00a0enjoy\u00a0this excellent\u00a0new resource.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bookbug Trip:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to those that made the journey to the Beach Ballroom with us for the Scottish Book Awards P1 &#8211; P3 event.The event was great fun\u00a0and the children and teachers\u00a0learned all about the books that are nominated for the Scottish Children\u2019s Book Award from the authors themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Voting closes for the award in February 2016, giving the children plenty of time to read all three books before they make a decision about who they\u00a0will vote for.<\/p>\n<p>When we returned to class, we wrote about our trip. We have also used our Bookbug books as the inspiration\u00a0for some of\u00a0our writing lessons.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2768_f_improf_256x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"256\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Maths:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In maths we have continued learning our numbers and we have been starting to learn about &#8216;taking away&#8217; and subtracting. The children have learned about\u00a02D shapes. We have also starting using the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ec1.educationcity.com\/\">Education City website\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>to develop our learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Topic<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>The children made animal habitats as a homework exercise. Their work was amazingly creative. \u00a0We\u00a0really enjoyed discussing all the habitats and using them for role play activities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2763_f_improf_212x171.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"171\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2764_f_improf_208x159.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"159\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2762_f_improf_222x179.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"179\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2767_f_improf_227x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"227\" height=\"183\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Drama:<\/p>\n<p>We have had some brilliant drama lessons with Mr Horabin. We all took part in various activities based upon the &#8216;Hansel and Gretel&#8217; fairytale. Mr Horabin made the story come alive and the children got to watch one another perform in different roles on the stage.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/_d_improd_\/IMG_2753_f_improf_298x241.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"298\" height=\"241\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All the children throughout the school are hard at work practising for the upcoming nativity play.
