The children have been celebrating the &#8216;Year of the Monkey&#8217; with an afternoon of activities today. They had a fantastic afternoon and enjoyed making (and eating!) their own spring rolls.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0930_f_improf_293x222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"222\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0925_f_improf_283x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"214\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed taking our Dragon Dance into the playground and we have continued to improve our calligraphy.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0875-e1455462748148_f_improf_226x299.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"299\" data-mce-width=\"40\" data-mce-height=\"40\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0899-e1454955163663_f_improf_355x269.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"355\" height=\"269\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0909_f_improf_285x216.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"285\" height=\"216\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0911_f_improf_293x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We made Lucky Red Envelopes for every class and coloured in a Monkey to be the centrepiece of our display in the main building.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0940-e1454955058863_f_improf_247x326.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"326\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0905-e1454955129387_f_improf_245x325.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>maths,<\/strong> the children are doing some revision of subtraction using the formal chimney sum method this week before moving onto a unit on Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Language<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are starting a novel study, reading &#8220;Friend or Foe&#8221; by Michael Morpurgo. Last week, the children made predictions about what they thought would happen in the book based on its blurb and front cover. Each week, we will be studying an aspect of each chapter in the book. Parents could encourage children to read other titles by Michael Morpurgo. <a href=\"https:\/\/aberdeencity.spydus.co.uk\/cgi-bin\/spydus.exe\/QRYLST\/OPAC\/BIBENQ\/14115618?REMLST=2\">Libraries in Tillydrone and Bridge of Don have several copies available for loan and\u00a0the\u00a0Central Children&#8217;s Library has a wide range of titles.<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/aberdeencity.spydus.co.uk\/cgi-bin\/spydus.exe\/QRYLST\/OPAC\/BIBENQ\/14115618?REMLST=2\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0856_f_improf_410x342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project<\/strong><br \/>\nThank you for all your support with the homework. It has been fantastic to see what the children have been learning through conversations with family members and researching independently. This week we are continuing to learn about how people in Aberdeen prepared for war. We are looking forward to having Miss MacDonald&#8217;s grandmother come in to speak to us next week about what it was like being a child in the 1940&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Philosophy<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWe have loved going to the university each week for our philosophy lessons. The children have behaved extremely well and have participated in each of the sessions maturely. We have now completed the block of lessons with Dr Luzzi and we look forward to continuing\u00a0our\u00a0philosophy sessions with Miss MacDonald in class.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0824-e1454955564586_f_improf_429x429.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"429\" height=\"429\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>R.E<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/_d_improd_\/IMG_0867-e1455462771256_f_improf_373x282.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"373\" height=\"282\" data-mce-width=\"40\" data-mce-height=\"40\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The children worked very hard during Catholic Education Week\u00a0to think about how they can be merciful towards others. As Lent starts,\u00a0they are making promises about how they will pray, fast and share.
