{"id":6734,"date":"2017-03-02T22:22:23","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T22:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=6734"},"modified":"2017-03-02T22:22:23","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T22:22:23","slug":"p2-blue-news-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=6734","title":{"rendered":"P2 blue news"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Term 3 news from Primary 2 Blue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary 2 Blue have been very busy over the last month since we returned to school after our holidays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within our spelling lessons, we have been working on\u00a0<strong><em>\u201cigh\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cy\u201d<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0, \u201ci-e\u201d, \u201co-e\u201d and \u201ca-e\u201d since the term began. The children have been taking part in a huge range of literacy activities, improving their spelling abilities and expanding their vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p>We have discovered funny and interesting Scottish poems in \u201cDoric\u201d like \u201cJill and Jack\u201d, \u201cI\u2019ve a kisty\u201d and \u201cThree wee taties\u201d so far. The children are really enjoying learning about Scottish poetry. We are also listening to\u00a0other Scottish stories linked with our &#8216;Granny\u2019s Attic in Scotland&#8217; topic. The children learn and discover old fashioned Scottish things\u00a0every week. Weekly, the pupils are given the opportunity to enjoy a book of their choice from the class library. They are asked to explore it, read it with a friend and draw about the story. The children can bring these books home if they wish to read for pleasure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Children in Primary 2 Blue have been exploring money in maths. They have been learning to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recognise all the coins and notes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the coins and notes.<\/li>\n<li>Give change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have set up a food shop, played interactive games on Education City, played money board games and lots more. We are exploring a wide range of activities about how Gran lived when she was a child.
