{"id":8805,"date":"2018-02-24T15:44:06","date_gmt":"2018-02-24T15:44:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=8805"},"modified":"2018-02-24T15:44:06","modified_gmt":"2018-02-24T15:44:06","slug":"balloon-hover-craft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/st-peters.aberdeen.sch.uk\/?p=8805","title":{"rendered":"Balloon Hover Craft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Primary 5\/6 learned about some of the science behind the bobsleigh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Streamlining<\/strong> is a way of designing an object\u2019s shape so that air resistance is reduced and it can travel faster.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.innova-systems.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/The-Aerodynamic-History-of-the-Bobsleigh-with-SOLIDWORKS-8-1024x461.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"112\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We learned that <strong>friction<\/strong> is the force between two surfaces rubbing together. Friction slows an object down. A\u00a0smooth surface creates little friction and objects can move over it easily like the bobsleigh travelling on the ice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.nbcolympics.com\/www.nbcolympics.com\/field_image\/12April2017\/zoom_1920x1080_usat.jpg?impolicy=960x540_rectangle\" alt=\"Image result for bobsleigh 2018\" width=\"232\" height=\"132\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We explored friction by making our own balloon hovercraft.
