Primary 2 will be learning about Scotland&#8217;s famous cartoon character Oor Wullie!<\/p>\n<p>Wullie speaks Scots and the boys and girls will be learning some of Wullie&#8217;s vocabulary alongside the poem &#8216;To A Bucket.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.pinimg.com\/236x\/f6\/7b\/4b\/f67b4b7de52bf9d5fc94774d97b36ee3--cartoon-characters-paw.jpg\" alt=\"Image result for oor wullie\" width=\"110\" height=\"173\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Writing opportunities will be linked to Oor Wullie. The children will be making a Scots dictionary and their own cartoon strip. Phonics, reading, spelling and grammar will also be taught on a daily\/weekly basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phonemes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ou (found)\u00a0 \u00a0igh (high)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spelling Words<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>round\u00a0 found\u00a0 wish\u00a0 men\u00a0 who\u00a0 after\u00a0 hand\u00a0 right<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathematics and Numeracy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fun Mental Maths opportunities will continue throughout the month. The children will be learning about grid reference systems, positional vocabulary (such as left, right, backwards, forwards, clockwise, anti-clockwise etc) and will be learning more about money (coins, notes, money addition etc).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and Wellbeing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In January we will be focussing on the importance of being active. This fits in well with our Burns celebrations. Primary 2 are learning the Scottish dance &#8216;The Virginia Reel&#8217; for our ceilidh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gentle Reminder<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Could you please ensure that all children have a gym kit in school.<\/p>\n<p>We have our morning break at 10.10am every day.
