End of term one – 10/10/14

We cannot believe how quickly term one has gone. We have been very busy in the last two weeks of term. Here are just some of the things that we have been doing recently.

Thanks to Mrs Robertson for getting us involved in a poster competition based on diet and nutrition. These are now all up at the main entrance of the school. We hope that we have some definite winners in our class!

With the help of Mrs Croxon, we have been using a wide range of materials such as paints, water colour pencils and ink to create pictures of our favourite scenes in Aberdeen. These are all going to be put on display in Gas de France’s new offices in Aberdeen. On Wednesday, Rob Buchan of Gas de France came to visit us. He looked around the school and spent time talking about our artwork. We had great fun and look forward to going to the Gas de France office to see our beautiful pictures on display.

On Thursday we had a visit from Lesley from Techfest. She needed the help of the boys and girls in Primary 6 to assist in the investigation of the dog-napping of Sophie the springer spaniel. Using the ransom letter left behind by the thief, we tested the ink of the pen used by the thief. Using chromatography paper and testing for finger prints, we were able to identify the thief to be Casey Catburglar. Lesley was very grateful for our assistance in this investigation.

This week, we have presented our personal projects on the European country of our choice. We learnt lots of new facts about countries we were not very familiar with and it was great to see the boys and girls excel in their ICT and writing skills. I think we all want to head off on holidays to many of the European countries we have learnt about.

We hope everyone has a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you all again next term!
