Term 2 news
Welcome to P4. Here is an update of all the things we are learning in term 2.
Maths
We are making some excellent progress with our fractions work. We have shown we are able to show fractions of different objects as well as fractions of quantities. Next we will be ordering fractions and we will be able to show an understanding of equivalent fractions.
Well done to everyone in P4 who participated in the Sumdog Maths Challenge. We finished 11th out of 109 classes in Aberdeen, earning 357 points. We are also showing we are successful learners with regular use of Education City and everyone in the class has received a certificate showing they have achieved 100% in an Education City activity at least once.
Literacy
This week we are working on words with ‘f’ sounds and, in the coming weeks, we will be learning about the ‘ow’ and ‘oi’ sounds. The children are progressing well with their reading and theirĀ great reflective reading activities are helping them to develop their comprehension skills. The children continue to read regularly in class and they choose their own books for pleasure.
We had a great time watching ‘Secret Life of Pets 2’ last week and we are making sure that we remember all the things we enjoyed about the film in our film reviews. Writing these reviews was a fun way to recount all our favourite parts of the film.
Health and Wellbeing
We have lots of opportunities to take part in P.E lessons in term 2. Currently we have P.E days on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks to Michelle for helping us with P.E on Wednesdays and to the RADs coaches for developing our fitness and agility skills on Thursdays.
We place great importance on sharing how we feel and discuss our thoughts and feelings in different ways. On Monday we share weekend news and hopes for the week and on Friday we review the week and think about two things we learned which we didn’t know at the start of the week and one thing we could have done better.
Thank you for your continued support.
