P1 News
Primary 1 have had a very busy time since the October holidays.
We have been revising our knowledge of the s, a, t, p, i and n sounds and have started to learn the sounds r and m.
We are going on to learn the sounds d, e, c, and k.
We had lots of fun reading our three special Bookbug books. We voted in class for our favourite book. We made a graph to show the number of votes for each book. We used our graph to learn about ‘Most’ and ‘How many more?’. During Bookweek Scotland we went to Tillydrone library with the P2s. Thank you to the parents who came in to school for our special session to gift the Bookbug packs. Please look at the Scottish Booktrust website to hear the authors reading “Sophie Johnson: Unicorn Expert”, “The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears” and “The Station Mouse”.

In maths, we have been exploring numbers. We have been learning to count, sequence and form numbers up to 10. We have also been adding and subtracting, finding how to combine numbers to make another number (up to 10).
We have been learning about pattern and shape with Mrs Findlay on a Tuesday morning.
We enjoy our P.E. lessons with RADS and Michelle. Please can I remind all parents that earrings are not allowed to be worn on P.E days due to health and safety. They must be removed or covered before the children come to school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
We have been learning about how special we are and that God made us as individuals. We enjoyed learning about St Peter and made a display that helps us to talk about what we learned about him.
We have been loving our outdoor learning with Mrs Crawford in Cruickshank Gardens. Our next session is on Wednesday 9.15am-11.45am. All parents are welcome to join us. Please can I remind you that all children should be dressed warmly and have hats, scarves and gloves.
Thank you.
