Literacy

Our sound and spelling words this term are:

Week 9 – /wr/ – gave, family, how, might
Week 10 – /ea/ (bread) – learn, children, because, earth
Week 11 – /wa/ – second, fifteen, five, fourteen
Week 12 – /th/ – spring, sunny, those, home
Week 13 – Consolidation
Week 14 /ie/ (tried) – tell, large, spell, still, saw
Week 15 – /ve/ (have) – own, small, something, live, give
Week 16 /g/ (gentle) – about, around, house, hour, side.

In class we are reading ‘The Twits’ by Roald Dahl which is helping us to develop our comprehension skills.

Numeracy

This term we will practise our  2x, 5x, 10x and 4x tables. We will also work with 2D and 3D shapes and symmetry.

Languages

Primary 3 continues to learn French and Makaton sign language with Mrs Brulinska. We can use sign language and French to name the days of the week. We were also learning to introduce ourselves in both Makaton and French.

We also have Mandarin lessons with Maia. So far we have learnt greetings, numbers 1- 10, class instructions and responding to “How are you?”

 

Topic

Our topic this term is The Nativity- ‘Hey Ewe!’ Mrs Hutton, Mr Dawson and Mrs Brulinska are helping us with choreography, music and expression. Children work very hard to prepare invitations and posters for the show.
