Christmas Preparations December 8th 2014
With just a few weeks until Christmas, the excitement in the P6 classroom is building and, as you can imagine, we are very busy with our Christmas preparations.
As a class, we created our own Jesse Tree, decorated with images from the Old Testament. This links the tradition of decorating of Christmas trees to the Old Testament. It turned out really well. Our German student also kindly created her own German advent calendar, which we look forward to opening every day, learning more about German traditions and customs.
We have also been practising our songs for “Panto Pandemonium” and, with just over a week to go, the pressure is on. For the performance, our class will be dressing up as their favourite panto characters.
Some of the boys and girls in our class were lucky enough to be chosen as members of the choir. This Sunday they are performing a selection of Christmas songs at the Aberdeen Music Hall.
On Thursday, we had a whole day of baking in preparation for the Christmas Fayre. We made some delicious truffles and some marshmallow skewers dipped in chocolate among other tasty things. They were a huge hit at the Fayre and I would like to say a big thank you to all the boys and girls who gave up their Saturday to help out at the Fayre. It was a huge success!
In the days leading up to the Christmas holidays we also have some lovely activities planned, such as the performance of “The Bossy King”, class Christmas party, trip to see Pinnochio, performance of “Panto Pandemonium” and our annual carol service at Kings College. In the meantime, I would like to wish you all a happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in January.
