December update – Primary 5
As Term 2 draws to a close, here is a look back at what Primary 5 have been getting up to over the last couple of weeks.
We have been doing lots of preparation during Advent. We have decorated our altar in purple with our Advent wreath and worked on some good deeds we can do during the season of Advent. We have been learning about Mary, the Mother of God, and recognising the significance of the crib and star within the story of the Nativity.
Primary 5 have been a great audience over the last few weeks. First, they attended the dress rehearsal of the fantastic “Hey Ewe” performed by Primary 1, 2 and 3. The costumes, the acting, the singing and the dancing was excellent. We all loved it! We made some lovely thank you cards to send them, congratulating them on their excellent performance.
We also were very lucky to have “Aladdin” visit the school. We laughed so much and loved all the songs they included. The dancing was great too: even some of our teachers got involved!
Some pupils in our class went to St Mary’s Cathedral to perform in the carol service. They sang beautifully with children from St Joseph’s and Holy Family. It was a lovely event.
Primary 5s have really enjoyed our outdoor learning sessions on Wednesday mornings. We are using our senses and expanding our vocabulary. We are making a lovely book to capture our experiences and emotions. These sessions will continue after the holidays every second week. We had a special treat this week, toasting our own bread and making and drinking hot chocolate.
Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas! Thank you for your ongoing support.
