Primary Four class news – December 2014

Primary Four are really enjoying their December learning and activities!  We’ve been very busy as usual…

We had an excellent morning on 1st December, opening the Nativity Crib for the city at St. Nicholas Kirk in the city centre.  We were joined by several other schools and sang carols to celebrate the beginning of Advent.  We also heard from Bishop Hugh, who blessed the crib, as well as other Ministers, Reverends and dignitaries from the city, including the Lord Provost of Aberdeen!

Eight P4 children were involved in planting a rowan tree to mark National Soil Day last Friday.  A team from the Hutton Institute spoke to the children about the importance of soil quality in planting and growing, before helping us plant the tree.  You can see the tree behind the Priest Gordon statue on King Street.

The class really enjoyed the Christmas Fayre and made £37 selling the Candy Cane Mice they created with Miss Webb and the handmade Christmas Cards they made with Mrs Fernandez.

Many of the children are enjoying Godly Play during lunchtimes with Mrs Brock.

We are otherwise busy with our preparation for Christmas and have an Advent Wreath with candles in class which we light and focus on during our daily prayers and Advent reflections.  The children are also getting ready to sing at the Christmas concert during the final week of term and are looking forward to performing in front of all the parents.

Primary Four would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
