P1/2 Term 3 news

Primary 1/2 have had a very busy term 3.

January.

In January our IDL topic was Scotland. Our P1’s learned to sing “Ye Cannae shove yer granny aff the bus” and the P2’s learned “Katie Bairdie”. The children also enjoyed learning Scottish poems, “Me wee red motor” for P1 and “My doggy” for P2. Mr Sturrock came and judged our singing and reciting for a competition. In writing we used the stories of Katie Morag to learn to write letters.

In Maths we have been learning about money. We learned to add money together, make change and solve problems involving money. We made a shop in the classroom and enjoyed shopping with our friends.

February.

In February our IDL topic was Malawi. We enjoyed learning about what life is like in Malawi. In writing we used what we were learning about wild animals that would be found in Malawi in order to write non-chronological reports.

We enjoyed Africa week, especially the Afri-dance workshop.

In Maths we were continuing to learn about Money.

March.

In March we had our Noah’s Ark assembly. We learned our lines, songs and actions and then performed in front of assembly and our parents. Our parents left us lots of wonderful comments about the assembly.

Our IDL topic this month has been Islam. We enjoyed learning about the 5 pillars of Islam and how Muslims celebrate Ramadan and Eid. We loved watching a video of Mrs Jadid explaining Eid.

We had a super visit to St Machar Cathedral where we enjoyed learning about the signs and symbols in the cathedral.

A big thank you to the parents who supported our porridge breakfast for Mary’s Meals, either by coming and having breakfast with us on the day, on by sending donations.

In Science week we were learning about Connections. Every day during science week we participated in an experiment that involved a connection.

In Maths we have been learning about column addition in P2 and about numbers to 20 in P1.

We are looking forward to our Easter fun day at the end of term. All at P1/2 wish you all a very happy Easter.
