P2/3 2023-2024

End of Term 2 – Blessings to you this holiday season

As we come to the end of term 2, P2/3 would like to wish you all a great holiday and share some of the learning that has taken place throughout this fun and busy term! The learners have had many opportunities to collaborate and be creative this term throughout our Inventors and Inventions/St Peter’s Arts Festival contexts for learning! Some of these experiences include;

  • Designing and Creating Inventions for our very own Dragon’s Den – judged by Mr Sturrock!
  • Writing imaginative stories – that included their inventions.
  • Used digital technology to research different Saints in groups
  • Creating a Christmas card and calendar
  • Taking part in the P1-3 Nativity – Shine Star, Shine!

We have also had the opportunity to go on school trips in the local area and enjoy Active Adventure Days, linked to our contexts for learning!

In Literacy, the learner’s wrote their own stories about inventions that went wrong, their own and adapted inventions. This was followed by personal writing, including responding to the work of an artist (Kandinsky – Winter Landscape) , who we later based our winter calendar on and about how it felt to take part in a performance (following the Nativity).

As Roots of Empathy has continued the class have become more and more excited for her visits, they have loved seeing her smile back at them and always ask curious questions about her to understand needs, wants and behaviours. In Numeracy, the learners have applied a variety of strategies to help them solve addition problems. This will also be helpful as we look at subtraction next term as they continue to make links with their prior knowledge and apply it to new learning.

Christmas Fayre

This year, P2/3 made Hot Chocolate Reindeer Cones for the Christmas Fayre. The class really enjoyed getting to fill the cones with the ingredients and add antlers, eyes and a red nose!

Shine Star, Shine!

The P3s did a fantastic job of getting ready for their roles in the nativity. They worked hard to remember their lines and where they should be on stage. The P2s did well to encourage their classmates and learnt the actions and words to the songs so quickly. Their singing was complemented by so many members of the audience!

See you next year in 2024 for Term 3!
