P7

What we are learning this term – Primary 6

This is just an update on what we will be covering in Primary 6 for the next few weeks.

In maths, our focus is measure. This includes looking at different types of measure, finding the area in square centimetres of squares, rectangles, compound shapes and triangles. We will measure perimeter in centimetres. We will, as always, be doing half an hour of mental maths each day. Homework will be based around Education City tasks and active maths activities.

In literacy, our focus for the next few weeks is persuasive writing. We are looking at persuasive writing techniques and advertisements and then we are writing our own persuasive texts. We will also be hoping to improve our comprehension skills in the coming weeks. Everyone has a copy of our class novel, ‘Holes’ and we will continue to read and analyse the text.

Our topic this term is Old Aberdeen, exploring our local environment. We have been on two  very exciting class trips around the area and we will be using our knowledge to complete a wide range of tasks in the classroom. We are also working on our own scientific investigations in class and for homework.
