P7 News

Hello from P7! We have been very busy lately in and out of class with lots to report back on! This past month we have been joined by MA4 student Miss Perviz from the University of Aberdeen. She will be helping the children with their learning until 20th November and returning after the Christmas Holidays for a month.

Lit Quiz

Massive congratulations to our classmates who finished 4th in the recent Literature Quiz which took place at Harlaw Academy. The group finished top of all the other primary schools and beat lots of Academies on their way to finishing fourth. A special mention also to their friends who joined the audience as proud and vocal supporters.

Hoodwinked

All our focus and concentration at the moment is preparing for the upcoming Pantomime – ‘Hoodwinked’. The children have been working hard in school to learn their actions and lines and I have been delighted with all the work that has gone on at home to learn lines and bring in costumes to help us get ready in the best possible way. Thank you for your support and I know the children will put on a great show! The children will perform ‘Hoodwinked’ on 16th and 17th of December at 1.15pm.

Scrooge

Last week we had the perfect break from concentrating on our own school show and walked down to the Arts Centre to watch St. Margaret’s School put on a fantastic performance of Scrooge. We all loved it and left the show with some great acting tips and full of Christmas Spirit!

Scottish Children’s Book Award

On Tuesday we were at the Beach Ballroom to go to a fantastic event where the children learned all about the books that are nominated for the Scottish Children’s Book Award from the authors themselves. The children had a first hand glance at the life of an author during a questions and answer session which inspired the budding writers among us.

The books nominated this year are

  • ‘The fastest boy in the world’ by Elizabeth Laird.
  • ‘The nowhere emporium’ by Ross MacKenzie.
  • ‘The mysteries of Ravenstorm Island: the lost children’ by Gillian Philip.

Voting closes 5th February 2016, giving the children plenty of time to read all three books before they make a decision!

Christmas Fayre

The Christmas Fayre takes place on 5th December from 2pm-4pm. P7 will be baking goods for sale at the Fayre and there will also be plenty of different fun and exciting items for sale from all classes throughout the school.

Children in Need

Well done to the P7 House Captains who, along with Mrs. Bain, successfully organised a Children in Need Pudsey Treasure Hunt for P1-3 and a brilliant talent show for P4-7. Over £200 has been raised and the children had a fantastic day.
