March Learning in Primary 5/6
March 1st was World Book Day. We made book marks, had a book scavenger hunt and dressed up as some of our favourite book characters. Can you guess who we came as?
We have been focusing on gymnastics with Mrs Armstrong in P.E. We have been learning about balance and control looking at showcasing skills such as rolls, jumps and balances.
We explored Minecraft using Python Programming. We had great fun getting to programme our own games and create special effects.
Mark Booker from SCIAF came to visit and he told us lots about how the charity helps those in need. We looked at the life of ten year old Nulai who lives in Cambodia. His family has been helped by SCIAF. We compared our lives with his and found lots of similarities even though we live on opposite sides of the world!
We have been learning about World War I in Topic and have been focusing on Remembrance. We visited St Machar Cathedral to look at the War Memorial there.
“It made me feel sad because I thought about all the people who had died.”
“It was big and grand. Those people are very important.”
We created our own silhouette artwork using chalks and black paper. They look fantastic!
We have been busy learning about fractions. Here we are working hard practising reading and writing equivalent, improper and mixed fractions.
26th February to 11th March was Fairtrade Fortnight. We looked at the journey of a banana and made our own banana bread. It was really tasty!
We looked at features of instructional writing when we wrote our own Banana Bread Recipes!
Here are photos of us making our bread. We had to work in teams to measure and mix all of the ingredients.
