P2 class news
It has been so wonderful to have all the children back in school for 2 weeks now. I am delighted to be keeping the class on from P1. It already feels like no time has passed!
We have been learning about our rights and created a super class charter to remind us of them throughout the year. We loved making up our own Rights Superheroes.
This term we are doing lots of Health and Wellbeing around our emotions and staying safe. We have enjoyed reading the book “The colour monster” and have done lots of activities about each of the monsters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih0iu80u04Y. I hope that you enjoyed receiving the children’s beautiful cards last week for someone in their house that makes them feel like the Love Monster.
In our phonics lessons we have been playing games together to revise the sounds taught in P1.
In maths, we have been exploring numbers. We have enjoyed learning to play Numicon bingo with our individual pots of numicon that we keep in our trays. Next week we are going to start learning about measurement. We will be doing lots of measuring of length, weight and volume in our classroom and outside in the environmental garden and playground.
We love exploring and playing with our friends in our new classroom. This week the children decided to turn the house corner into a “MacDonald’s” takeaway and restaurant. They had lots of fun working together to take orders, cook the food and give the correct person their own order.
We have also enjoyed the Art corner of our new classroom, painting pictures and making thing from their own individual pots of playdough.
One of the best things about our new classroom is that it overlooks the environmental garden. We love that we can see when it is free and take our learning outside. We went out in small groups to look at the statue of Mary and used the picnic benches to draw pictures of her in our special art jotters. We have also enjoyed doing phonics outside, where we were finding hidden words to spell.
We have loved having some free play time together in the garden to get to know each other again and strengthen our relationships.
I am so proud of the way that the children have settled back into learning in the classroom, have accepted all the new routines and have been so kind and caring towards each other and the staff that they are working with.
Thank you for all your support during the home learning period before the holidays.
