Term 4 in Primary 1
We have had a busy but fun start to Term 4 in Primary 1. We have enjoyed some lovely weather and planted some hanging baskets for the school garden and have enjoyed playing and learning out here a few times each week.
We have also enjoyed starting this term’s topic on Laudato Si – Taking care of our Earth. We have decided that we will be Eco Helpers for the term and learn a little about all the ways to protect our planet and be more Eco friendly both at school and at home. We listened again to the message from Pope Francis that Mrs Martin shared at assembly and wrote what we can do on our hand prints to help look after the Earth.
We started our topic work learning about bees and their homes. We worked in teams to try to create some hexagon shapes to make it look like a bee hive on the ground. We had fun trying to make as many stick hexagons as possible. We also have been learning how to make a good poster and practised our skills by making posters to hang up outside to remind people not to drop litter and to take care of our planet.
We also made some bee homes using recycled plastic bottles and sticks so we hope some bees or insects come and stay in the new homes we made for them. We even decorated them to look like bees!
We continue to enjoy our RADS sessions with Callum on Wednesdays. We have welcomed back Miss Behan to our class and are enjoying her lessons. Here are some photos of our RADS and Outdoor Learning fun in the garden.
We have been learning the days of the week, months and seasons and will move on to learn a little about o’ clock times soon in Maths. In Literacy we are continuing with our sounds and common words as well as leaning how to write Menus. We are also enjoying reading groups and lots of word games in class. We will post another update soon with more photos of what we have been getting up to in Primary 1.
Thank you
Miss Rynne
