Primary 5 Term 1 News
As Term 1 draws to a close, here is a look back at the busy few weeks that Primary 5 have had!
Macmillan Coffee morning
Primary 5 planned their own coffee morning to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer support charity. They worked with partners to design their own informative posters that were displayed around the annexe. Next, they worked with Mrs Jadid to make their very own delicious chocolate cupcakes. Finally, their hard work paid off and they enjoyed a really fun morning with their classmates while raising lots of money for Macmillan. I am so proud of their hard work and generosity.
Maths Week
Primary 5 loved Maths week. Each day had a different maths theme. They also took part in the sumdog challenge all week!
Trail Tuesday – Primary 5 split into two groups and went on a maths hunt all around the school, looking for specific things to count, calculate and observe. We also did the pizza hut challenge, using our money and budgeting skills.
Weigh Wednesday – Primary 5 made some delicious truffles, using their knowledge of weight while following a set of instructions.
Time Thursday – The boys and girls calculated different time zones on different planets.
Fun Friday – We started off Fun Friday with Bingo for P3-P7. Mr Sturrock was the bingo caller and we loved playing! Primary 5 worked cooperatively with the rest of the school to create a penny trail in the playground. All the money collected was given to the charity SCIAF. We also took part in a house quiz, based on the tv show “The Cube”, using our problem solving and team work skills to earn house points.
Active Adventure day
On Fun Friday, we also wore our sporty clothes and had an Active Adventure day. Each P4-P7 teacher came up with a different station such as playground games, loose parts play, games around the world and gardening. We also took part in a silent disco which was amazing! We can’t wait for our next Active Adventure day in Term 2!
Thank you
Thanks to all of you for your ongoing support! Enjoy the October holidays and looking forward to welcoming back Primary 5 in term 2!
