P7 2021-2022

Welcome to Primary 7

We are all delighted to be back as primary seven pupils at St. Peter’s RC School!

Our Classroom

Our Class Charter

It has been lovely getting to know one another and becoming familiar with new routines. The pupils have been demonstrating great qualities and have enjoyed applying for/being interviewed for leadership roles.

Our Learning

Numeracy

We have been been focussing on estimating and rounding. We are familiar with the rule of estimation and can round to the nearest 1000, 10 000 and 100 000. We understand the importance of rounding and how we can use it in every day life!

We have also been learning about measurement, converting units of measure, finding the perimeter of 2D shapes and the area of squares, rectangles and right angled triangles.

We always take advantage of mental maths opportunities and like to beat the clock when playing fun games!

Literacy

We understand the importance of reading and ensure that we have reading opportunities daily. We all have a guided reading book and an Accelerated Reader book which we choose ourselves. We enjoy reflective reading opportunities, up levelling our knowledge and understanding. In taught writing we have been writing formal letters and creating our own biographies based on an inspirational person of our choice. Our writing experiences are often liked to our topic ‘Our Caring World.’

Topic – Our Caring World

We will be finding out about charities who work throughout the world to help battle issues such as climate change, poverty and pollution. Pupils will be undertaking their own research to create their own slide show on a charity of their choice.
