P1R October/November Update

We have been very busy since coming back to school after the October holidays. Here are some of the things we have been learning and some of the experiences we have had so far this term.

We have continued to learn more sounds each week and are learning to read and write the sounds as we learn them. We are also starting to write words during Word Time using our new Read Write Inc scheme. Here are some photos to show you some of our Literacy learning so far this term.

Maths- We are learning to add within 10 using numicon and other maths resources and games. We are also learning about 2D and 3D shape this term and have been on a shape hunt in our classroom. We will continue to learn more during the term.

IDL – We have been learning about woodland animals and using our BookBug books to help learn some facts about foxes, badgers and owls so far. We will continue to learn more over the next few weeks and hope to share our learning with you as part of our Enterprise this term.

We also collected and used some autumn leaves from the playground to create our own Arlo the lion from another of our BookBug books Arlo- The Lion who Could not sleep. We are learning about Owls from this story too. Here are some photos from this lesson and our Arlo the Lion’s. we are very proud of them!

Fire Engine Visit- We also had some very exciting visitors to our playground this term to tell us how to be safe around Bonfire an firework night. We learned a lot from this visit and also got to try and use the fire fighting hose which was great fun! We created some of our own firework pictures in class too. Have a look!
