P5 2022-2023

Welcome to Term 3

Happy New Year and welcome back to Term 3 in Primary 5! In this latest post we will share what we will be learning in the coming weeks.

Maths/Numeracy

Our first topic within maths and numeracy will be measure. In the next few weeks we will look at length, weight, capacity, area and perimeter. As always, we will update progress on our weekly slides posted every Friday to google classroom and in our next website post.

Literacy

We have a new novel study to start of our reading for this year. We are studying ‘Stig of the Dump’ and have so far been using inference and prediction strategies to guess what might happen in the book using clues given by the author and illustrator.

IDL

Our focus for January is Scotland. We will be taking part in fun home learning and class activities. The Burns Competition information has been shared in class and on google classroom and we have an excited class anticipating the different learning that will take place. For P.E lessons this month, P5 will be learning the ‘Canadian Barn Dance’ and ‘Strip the Willow’ ceilidh dances.

Health and Wellbeing

Later on this term, P5 will be take part in weekly basketball lessons for their P.E learning. P5 also continue to receive weekly RADS sessions run by Callum. Callum will also continue to support weekly P.E lessons. For class health and wellbeing lessons we continue to follow the SHANARRI wheel which underpins our health and wellbeing education. We are currently reflecting on the past year and makign achievable targets for the future. We will also think about how we can communicate both verbally and non verbally in kind a respectful ways.

Looking back on our final week of last term!

Many thanks for your support,

P5.
