Term 3 Updates

Here’s a little update on some Term 3 news and also the things to still look forward to this term!

Context for Learning

We loved our Let’s Celebrate context for learning where our class focused on Scottish celebrations and the Up Helly Aa festival. For Pe this term, we were learning our set ceilidh dances, the Dashing white sergeant and the Gay gordons. We had great fun at the whole school ceilidh! Our class had so many entries for the Burns competition including poetry, art and performing. We had a lot of worthy winners!

Our pupil and learning council members supported Mrs Kelman in planning and organising our Highland games themed Active adventure day including shinty, highland dancing, a welly toss, farmers dash and the javelin and golf. We created our own slides about the Up Helly Aa festival and presented them to the class. We also created our own longboats and created leaflets about our own festivals to share with our parents at our open afternoon.

Things to look forward to:

  • Our Rotary Quiz team are preparing for the heats later this month! We wish them the best of luck!
  • We will have a four week block based on “Large balls” activities in the ASV which we are really looking forward to.
  • in March, we will be attended a music workshop in the Music hall from the famous violinist, Nicola Bennedetti.
  • We will be hosting a Mother’s day event with our P1 buddies.
  • We will be performing the “Way of the Cross”, retelling the stations of the cross.
  • Our “How’s the weather” context for learning will start, where our class will focus on “Extreme Weather”.

Literacy: Our upcoming book launch

As you may know, P7 has been busy writing, illustrating and publishing our own book, A Unicorn’s guide to Oul Aiberdeen. We are preparing for our book launch and we look forward to sharing this with you all soon. In our book, Rory the Unicorn explores different landmarks in Old Aberdeen.
