P4 Update
We are enjoying our topic about Scotland-Let’s celebrate.
We were busy learning Scottish poems. We were very good at reciting them by heart!
We learned many Scottish songs: My bonnie lives over the ocean and the Union street.
We had visitors from the Scottish Culture and Tradition group who were teaching us every day for a whole week how to play a penny whistle, a guitar and clarsach! We were so good we then performed in front of the whole school!
In PE we were learning how to dance Scottish dances: Canadian barn dance and Strip the Willow.
We enjoyed our whole school ceilidh, we danced with the P5 class and we really had a good time.
In Art we looked at art by the Scottish artist Rithie Collins and we created a picture of a fishing village using chalk and oil pastels.
Finally we had a Scottish food tasting session. We had a shortbread, a tea cake, cheddar cheese, an oatcake and an Irn Bru. We voted which one we like the best and our favourite was the tea cake!
In Maths we were busy learning about time. We learned what calendars are for and how we can use them . We also made our own calendars. We can now read and write o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. Some of us can tell time to a minute.
In Maths we were also learning about 2D and 3D shapes with Mrs Kelman.
In Science we have been talking about a water cycle. We have learned the changes of the state matter: melting, freezing, condensation, precipitation and vaporization.
