Last term of P7
It has been a jampacked term for our wonderful P7 pupils. Here are some of our highlights!
Silver City by the Sea
Our first context was Silver City by the sea. We focused on the oil industry in Aberdeen and how that has influenced the local economy. We invited parents along to our open afternoon to showcase our learning, displayed our wonderful oil rigs made from recycled materials alongside our other art activities and our writing. We then shared our learning with the rest of the school.
Active Adventure day
Our most recent Active adventure day was Charlie house themed, where we helped to raise funds for the charity. Our tuck shop was a huge success. We also participated in a lot of activities such as obstacle courses, parachute games, blind fold activities and pin the nose on Charlie. It was a great day over all!
Tomintoul
Our long awaited residential trip to Tomintoul has a huge success, despite the bad weather. One day 1, we visited Pluscarden Abbey and then made our way to St Michael’s Centre after doing the food shop in Asda on the way. Day 2 was spent at Landmark, followed by a Harry Potter themed movie night. Day 3 we made our final stop off to Innoflate for some trampolining activities. The P7s had so much fun, exceeding all expectations. Thanks to Mrs Bain, Mr McFadden and Mrs McKinlay for all of their organisation and planning.
Dads and Dens
After our well attended Mother’s day event, we organised a Dads and Dens themed event to celebrate Father day, collaborating with our P1 buddies. We made sandwiches and treats and organised resources to allow Dads and their children to build dens in the hall. It was a great afternoon, thanks to all of those who attended.
Keeping active – Cycling and scooting
We were very lucky to have Fiona from Sustran take our confident cyclists on a cycle along the beach which was an exciting but tiring morning. For those of us less confident, we got to enjoy scooters and a silent disco back in school. It was a great way to start the week!
We are the Champions
We have been busy rehearsing for our Olympic themed school show. Our class is focusing on Spain and we have been practicing our own singing and choreography for La Bamba and The Ketchup song. Our talented P7 artists also created the beautiful Olympic torch to be passed on between classes.
Doric Film festival
Our current P7’s are leaving behind a great legacy, not only are they published authors, they are also now award winning actors! With the help of Jackie and Aaron, we turned our book into a film to be entered into the Doric Film festival. We had so much walking around Aberdeen with our life sized unicorn! And we won! Our prize money will now be used as an end of school treat chosen by the class!
Sports day
There were lots of gold, silver and bronze stickers awarded to the P7s on Sports day! They were very keen participants and show cased their talents in a range of a events such as sprints, relay, javelin, long jump, obstacle courses and the classic egg and spoon race!
Confirmation
We had a lovely evening at St Peters church celebrating with 20 of our P7 pupils receiving the sacrament of Confirmation. Thanks to all the family members and friends who attended this lovely occasion. Mr Sturrock organised a delicious cake the next day to celebrate with our classmates!
Last few weeks of school
In our last few days of school we have some exciting things to look forward to including our Olympics school show, achievement assembly, winning house treat and of course our leavers assembly. Thank you for all your support this year and well done P7 on an amazing year!
