Term 2 In Primary 7
We have had a very busy term 2 and can’t believe how quickly the 8 weeks have gone by!
Staffing
We have welcomed Mrs Mbarki into our class, she has been working alongside Mrs Kelman to help plan and deliver some of our lessons. We have also welcomed Miss Kinniburgh who works with us on a Monday!
Numeracy
We have completed two numeracy topics this term, negative numbers and money. We are all able to explain why a number line can extend to include numbers less than zero and we investigated how these numbers occur and are used in real life contexts. We have also extended our learning on money, comparing costs to determine affordability, learning about profit and loss, and understanding the benefits and risks of using bank and credit cards to purchase goods.
Literacy
We have continued with our reading, grammar and spelling lessons. In Taught Writing we have also continued to develop our skill of writing in different genres. We have created imaginary stories, recalled previous events, written persuasive letters and created our own advertisements!
IDL
We have covered two contexts for learning this term, Our Future World and Our World Of Work. We enjoyed learning more about Artificial Intelligence and had the opportunity to visit Aberdeen’s Science Centre. In Our World of Work, we learned about our skills and how we can use these skills in our future careers. We thoroughly enjoyed careers day where professionals, from many different areas of employment, visited us and explained their job role to us.
Roots Of Empathy
We are so lucky to have Roots of Empathy in our class. Our Tiny Teacher is Baby Zumar and he has been teaching us about temperament, a baby’s development and also about the importance of love and empathy. We understand that a crying baby is not a bad baby, but one that needs our help! We are looking forward to more of Baby Zumar’s visits in both term 3 and term 4.
Expressive Arts
This year, it was our turn to perform in the school’s annual pantomime ‘HoodWinked.’
We had the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, singing, dancing and acting out the story of Robin Hood! We were responsible for ensuring our lines were fluent, our voices were projecting and our singing was in tune! We also made our own props too! Although we had to practise a lot, we were all very proud of our performances!
We will continue to learn from all areas of the curriculum next term and are looking forward to our new IDL context ‘Our Cultural World.’
On behalf of everyone in Primary Seven we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
