Eco group news
This year’s pupil Eco group has been working on discussing different environmental issues such as air pollution, water pollution and environmental work within our school. We have also started working on organising the Earth Day in our school which will take place on April 22nd 2025.The theme for Earth Day 2025 is OUR POWER, OUR PLANET (click here to find out more).
We have been busy planning different activities for the day, for the whole school.
We continued our work on bringing upper and lower stages together by meeting together as one group, planning and learning an Eco group’s song.
We have also made a list of equipment which will provide opportunities for everyone at school to join our environmental work by contributing to working in the garden, in class and in our local community. Thanks to the financial support from the Aberdeen City Council all the equipment purchased will allow classes to work in our school garden and to grow plants in classes.
We are continuing our cooperation with the Childsmile in recycling toothbrushes and toothpaste tubs and we are learning about plants during science lessons. Plants in our science classroom allow us to observe how they root, grow and flower.
During the spring season we will start working in our school gardens on tidying after winter, preparing planters, pots and planting new flowers and vegetables.
