Our Historical Scotland in P5

We so enjoyed working on this historical IDL. We worked very hard on research, preparing many wonderful art pieces and creating different genres of writing. We are very proud of the timeline we created which depicted many important facts from Mary’s life.

Every person in our class contributed to creation of our class museum about Mary Queen of Scots where we created rooms related to different periods in her life. Rooms in our museum also display links we found between Aberdeenshire and Mary and the times when she lived. During our learning we also created art which depicted Mary and other members of society and outfits they wore in that time period.

We wrote diaries as Mary Queen of Scots and newspaper articles describing events from Mary’s life.

During our IDL we went on a trip to St Machar Cathedral where we found links between our learning, Mary and the times she lived in. We discovered Mary’s name on the cathedral’s ceiling. We also found some documents in the cathedral’s archive which were written in Mary’s times.

To showcase our learning we invited parents to our class. Parents had an opportunity to look at our work and to work with us on discovering castles where Mary lived.
