P3 2024-2025

End of term 3 in P3

Primary 3 have had a very busy term. Some of the class have been preparing for their Reconciliation. It was a lovely day in church for all the children to witness their classmates making their first confession.

Literacy
The class started with a block of imaginative writing based on Scottish landscapes. They wrote wonderful Kennings poems on with a Scottish animal theme. During the castle topic the children learned to write non fiction leaflets. The children also wrote personal opinions of which job they would like to have if they worked in a castle.

Maths
The class started term 3 with a block of learning on time. For the second half of the term the class have been learning about multiplication. The children learned that the 4x table is double the 2x table and the 8x table is double the 4x table. They have used this learning to solve multiplication problems. The children have also been learning about position, angles and symmetry.

IDL
Our first context was “Our cultural Scotland”. The children enjoyed learning about aspects of Scottish culture, including learning “The Virginia Reel” and “The flying Scotsman” ceilidh dances. Our second context was “Our historical Scotland” with a focus on “Castles”. The children loved building their own castle in the classroom, and showcased their learning within the castle.

We are looking forward to the Easter holidays before starting fresh for term 4.
