P6 2024-2025

TERM 3

We have had a busy and great term in primary 6 with lots of learning and going on fun and educational trips. We have been competing in our table competition every week which has helped us to concentrate and focus throughout class.

Numeracy

In numeracy, we looked at shape before moving on to look at the four operations and number sequences and patterns. We learned about 3D shapes and their properties and how we could link them to real life objects. We then moved on to look at different methods and strategies we could use within the four operations of numeracy. We spent the last two weeks of term learning about number patterns and sequences.

Literacy

We have enjoyed linking our writing to our IDL topic of the Jacobites and being able to explore different writing styles. We have learned how to write fact files, newspaper reports, letters and completed an imaginative piece of writing. We have enjoyed reading “Wonder” as our class novel and are looking forward to our next novel in term 4.

IDL

We started off our IDL topic linking to our “cultural world” topic in which learned all about the different traditions and culture within Scotland. We learned and performed the Gay Gordons and the Dashing White Sergeant at our school’s Ceilidh. We learned “Green Ladies” poem by Sheena Blackwell and had 2 songs to learn as part of our competition. In our “historical world” topic we focussed on and learned about the Jacobites. Within this we have been able to create different pieces of artwork relating to the Jacobites, as well as creating a timeline as part of our wall display. We have enjoyed using digital technology to help support our learning of this topic.

PE

We started off the term learning our Scottish dances for our school ceilidh. We enjoyed working together in groups and as a team to learn and perform the dance in front of the whole school. We then moved onto gymnastics and loved getting to learn different balances, rolls and turns. We have been able to put together a sequence but unfortunately the past two Thursdays we have been out on a school trip so haven’t had the chance to perform our routines in front of the class but will be doing this in our first week back.

We are looking forward to our Easter holidays and excited to be back form term 4.
