Our Natural world- Jungles and Forests
Our class enjoyed working on ‘Our Natural World’ IDL. We learned so much about forest and jungle biomes and incorporated our topic into reading, writing and expressive arts lessons.
We created art which was related to jungles and forests. We also created a floor book which included all the information about our learning for this topic.

After doing some research, we wrote fact files about chosen animals that live in jungles. We spoke about reasons for deforestation and benefits of forests and rainforest, which helped us write persuasive arguments to urge people to look after jungles and to prevent deforestation.

As part of the IDL the whole school took part in Active Adventure day where we all shared and looked at every classes’ floor books. We also created pictures using natural resources and made poems related to our pictures, where we practised the use of similes.

As part of our learning about forests we went on a trip to Cruickshank Botanic gardens. We were learning to use alternative ways to calculate the age and the height of trees. We were also learning about the kinds of trees that grow in the garden.
